Where to stay in the Maldives? Villa Nautica Review

After 5 wondeful days at Villa Park on Sun Island it was time to explore a new island. We were going to spend the second half of our Maldives Trip at Villa Nautica. Villa Nautica, formerly known as Paradise Island, recently went through a complete makeover and we were excited to see what the island has to offer.

Villa Nautica is located fairly close to Male. The island can be reached by speedboat and it takes around 25 minutes to get there. Compared to Villa Park, this island is much smaller and has a more boutique vibe.

When the speedboat approaches the jetty you are greeted by the beautiful turquoise lagoon and the beautiful lush scenery of the island. We can’t wait to get off and explore.

After checkin our dedicated Guest Relations Manager escorts us to our Deluxe Beach Pool Villa (Villa 303). Although everything on the island can be reached by foot we take the buggy and even get a short island tour.

Our villa is beautiful, and we have a huge private terrace and a pool surrounded by palm trees. The ocean is a few steps away.

The room itself is newly renovated and we loved the colours and patterns that were used. Our outdoor bathroom was another highlight, and we even had a jacuzzi.

Since we arrived in the afternoon it was almost time for dinner which was at Ristorante Al Tramanto, the Italian Outlet. The restaurant is located near the arrival jetty and is also the best spot to watch the sunset. So we arrive a bit early to enjoy some cocktails and enjoy the view before the dinner. The margheritas were amazing!

The food was also great, You have a variety of dishes to chose from. Definitely recommend to have dinner here at least once. We came back a few times especially for drinks and sunset.

The next morning rested and ready to explore, we headed to breakfast at Bageecha Restaurant, which is the buffet outlet. Lunch and dinner are also served here. For guests of the water villas there is also The Lagoon, where you can have breakfast, lunch and dinner. The breakfast buffet had everything you could think of.

After breakfast we spent the day at the beach bar and enjoyed swimming in the beautiful lagoon and in the afternoon we enjoyed our private pool, which was Teo’s favourite activity.

Before dinner we went for a sunset walk around the island and had drinks at the Hulhangu Bar next to the pool. I loved the design and atmosphere of the bar so much.

Once the sun set we headed towards the end of the water villa jetty to catch the shark feeding, which takes place very evening. Our dinner that evening was at Furamathi, the seafood restaurant. The location is stunning since you are surrounded by the ocean and the sound of waves accompany your dinner. It is also open for lunch by the way. The food and service were great.

The next morning, we had breakfast in our villa, a floating breakfast to be precise. We loved our peaceful mornings on our terrace so much.

After breakfast I had a spa appointment at Aaramu Spa. After the amazing experience at Villa Park I had to have another one and it was yet again a wonderful experience. The spa itself is beautiful and the massage rooms are all outdoors surrounded by palm trees. You could even hear the waves which was the only relaxing music I needed.

For dinner we tried out the buffet restaurant. There were plenty of choices available. I especially enjoyed the live cooking stations.

The next day we had something very exciting planned. We were going on a semi submarine ride. It is a 30 minute trip were you get to see the underwater life in the nearby reef. It was really fun and Teo loved it too. We saw plenty of colourful fish, some sharks and even a turtle.

After our usual sunset drink at Al Tramanto we had reservations at the Japanese outlet Fukuya Tepppanyaki. Although atmosphere wise it was not our favourite the food was excellent and the best on the island!

Our last day already arrived. Today we decided to enjoy the pool area. The pool is the main center piece of the island and the whole area is gorgeous. You get a Mediterranean beach club vibe. The pool is a big infinity pool with see through glass at the edge. Such a cool idea and you’ll get some Insta worthy shots for sure.

After a last sunset drink it was already time for us to leave. Since the island is so close to Male and accessible by speedboat, we did not have to leave the island too early and could stay until 8pm. So we had the full day, which is a big plus for islands close to Male.

Villa Nautica is a beautiful boutique island and definitely great for honeymooners or couples. But it is also a family friendly island. There is even a kids club, Wavy Navy, and babysitter service (25 USD per hour) is available.
