Where to stay in Cape Town? - Cloud 9 Hotel

Updated: Mar 25, 2020

Our fourth and final stop in Cape Town was another boutique hotel named Cloud 9.

The hotel is located in the district of Tamboerkloof which is known for its hip and cool restaurants and bars and also the coolest crowd in Cape Town. Besides that you are literally on the foot of Table Mountain and Lion's head. Cloud 9 has a very cool and young vibe, you can instantly tell when entering the lobby. The walls are decorated with all sorts of modern art mainly from local artists and later on we discovered that also the upper floors and rooms are filled with beautiful art pieces.

Our room (Number 12) was located on the second floor and was small but very cute. The bathroom was really small though but no biggie. The view made up for the bathrooms size. We had the Table Mountain on one side and Lion's Head on the other.

My personal favourite was the hotels roof bar and pool area which was just AMAZING. Talk about views. I believe the pictures are self explaining. Make sure to visit this place during summer months for evening drinks.

Another great thing about this hotel definitely was the location. Just below the hotel there were two of the coolest bars like The Power and The Glory and Sorrows which were packed with a beautiful crowd. I also had the best taco of my life at El Burro, a taco place located on the ground floor of the hotel. Kloof Street, another lively street is just 2 minutes walk away. So this place is perfect if you want to get some nightlife and socialize with the locals.

The hotel does not have an own restaurant but partnered up with Sorrows for breakfast. So until 11am you can just go there and have a great breakfast in one of the coolest hotel breakfast locations I've ever seen.

In a Nutshell: If you want to stay in a central and modern hotel with all sorts of options in the palm of your hand this is your place to be.

Prices are around 70 Euro during Low Season and starting from 150 Euro during High season. To check rates click here.
