This year I went to London right before Christmas for the first time. It was really cold but I can tell you it's the best time to go. The whole city is covered in lights. And most importantly there is the Winter Wonderland. Located in the Hyde Park this huge amusement park has to offer something for every taste. The park is open from November 16th to January 2nd and the entrance is free. Winter Wonderland was first set up in 2006 and celebrates its 10. anniversary this year. There is a Christmas market in it, several rollercoasters and similar things like that, a big Bavarian tent with lots of beer and Bratwurst, different shows and more. It's probably most fun to go after dark although after 6pm and on weekends its quite busy :( We also bought tickets for the Nutcracker on Ice show but sadly had to find out that its more a 'kids' event. Closest underground stations are Knightsbridge, Marble Arch, Hyde Park Corner.
