Bali - Tugu Hotel Canggu Review

Updated: Mar 25, 2020

Tugu Hotel is heaven! That's the main sentence that pops into my mind when thinking about our 1 night stay at Tugu Hotel in Canggu.

The property is located right at the beach in Canggu next to popular places like Old Mans or The Lawn. It is a true boutique hotel owned by Indonesias' biggest antique collector. You can find many pieces of this collection and the decor is true 'Bali', love it! The hotel offers 4 types of villas and we opted for the Dedari Suite which has a private terrace and a pool. The room itself was impressive enough but the bathroom was just insane. It was a semi-open space with gold fishes swimming around the bathtub.

When arriving at the hotel we were greeted with some welcome drinks of choice and after check in we were escorted to our villa. The hotel offers complimentary afternoon tea for the guests which you can either have in your room or the restaurant. We decided to relax with some pastry and coffee on our private patio which turned out to be a very good choice :)

The next morning we decided to have breakfast on the hotels rooftop lounge. My absolute favourite part was that you could have your breakfast whenever and wherever you want. So no stress in the morning to catch the breakfast. I wish all hotels would offer this because for me it's always a hassle since I'm a bit of a sleepyhead...

Anyways, the breakfast menu is A la Carte an you can choose each of one juice, eggs and sweet dish. Everything was delicious but the French Toast was one of the best I've ever had.

After Breakfast I had an appointment at the Spa for a massage. Actually the hotel offers each guest 15minutes for free and you can extend if you want, and you definitely should! After the breakfast and the massage I was so fluffy and happy that we wanted to have one last coffee before we were headed to Ubud. One coffee turned into drinks and then into more drinks and sunset followed by dinner. So at the end we ended up at the Roofbar for the entire day because it was just too good to leave. Since we were in Bali for the first time and only for 4 days we had a really tight schedule but the Roofbar, called Ji Restaurant by the way, made us threw all our plans away :)

So in a nutshell, as you've probably noticed, I just loved loved loved Tugu Hotel and regret to have stayed here for just 1 night. The prices are a bit higher than many places in Bali but it's definitely worth it.
